CHAKRA PSYCHOLOGY

- GUILT -


There are two sorts of guilt feelings.

  1. HEALTHY. Appropriate guilt concerning performing a negative or thoughtless action or entertaining unwholesome thoughts. These guilt reponses show us when we are thinking and behaving in ways that are not good for life.

  2. NEUROTIC. Inappropriate guilt complex. The whole personality is pervaded by guilt that is not linked to current events. This kind of guilt complex is usually installed into somebody when they are young. In this case, we are often inappropriately heavily chastised by influential people in our childhood - parents, guardians, teachers, and other adult influences - and we have not been able to get rid of the complex as we grew up and became adults ourselves. We may develop a martyr personality as we unconsciously hold on to the pains of the past. This pain needs healing.

A neurotic guilt complex can make us think and feel that we are a bad person when really we are not. A guilt complex is usually a product of negative circumstance in childhood or any other highly influential phase in our lives - eg; a negative partnership, a death.

Sometimes the guilt complex is the ego and it's victimized attention seeking strategy (learned as a child and a symptom of a failed safe passage through the Oedipus and Electra complex), and we are unconsciously using this strategy to get attention (because we really want to be loved and to show love - heart chakra) via pity and sympathy from others.

This does not work, as eventually the sympathy dries up and we perceive others responses as getting more and more annoyed, dismissive or even hostile (the victim strategy ends up attracting its opposite number which is the tyrannt and the violator).

Unhealed pains, dejections, disappointments, and chastisement are often held in the abdominal region (the second chakra) and the shoulders (the throat chakra) as physical tension, discomfort, and pain. This is quite usual and normal.

We can begin to work out this tension by learning how to breath into the abdomen, practicing hatha yoga, learning yoga breathing techniques (pranayama), and learning and practicing ENERGY ENHANCEMENT.

In ENERGY ENHANCEMENT Stage 1 and 2, we learn how to dissolve tension and pain held in the lower chakras (chakras 1, 2, and 3). Thus freeing up and returning these areas of our life to health .
