| Description |
English: Cassini’s (launch mass: 5.8 tonnes) chemical propulsion tank takes up more than a half of the spacecraft’s mass when full and serves as a structural element around which the probe is built. Rosetta’s (launch mass: 3 tonnes) electric propulsion tank takes up less than a half of the spacecraft’s mass, but the propulsion system requires large solar panels. IKAROS’ (launch mass: 0.3 tonnes) lightsail is 14 m × 14 m in size and requires no propulsion tanks. The E-sail can be deployed kilometres in length from a <10 kg cubesat.
