Stabilized video of the final 5½ minutes of the DART spacecraft's intentional collision with asteroid Dimorphos. The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) spacecraft streamed these images back to Earth in real time on 26 September 2022. Dimorphos is 177 meters in diameter and the final image shows a patch of Dimorphos that is 16 meters across. From this mission, scientists hope to gain insights for planetary defense against asteroids.
