The monastery at Namo Buddha

Namo Buddha or Takmo Lüjin (Tib. སྟག་མོ་ལུས་སྦྱིན་, Wyl. stag mo lus sbyin) is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site of Nepal. Situated about 40 km to the south east of Kathmandu city, it is one of the three great stupas of Nepal, the other two being Swayambhunath and Boudhanath.

According to tradition, the stupa is located on the site where a prince name Mahāsattva, who was a previous incarnation of the Buddha Shakyamuni, gave his body to a starving tigress and her cubs. There are multiple versions of this story, one of which is told in the Golden Light Sutra.
