Niguma was a yogini and Vajrayana teacher of the 10th or 11th century in India. She was one of the two female founders of the Shangpa Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism, along with Sukhasiddhi.
While not much can be confirmed about the historical details of Niguma's life, what does remain is the corpus of her teachings and her impact on the founding of the Shangpa Kagyu spiritual lineage.
Contemporary translator Sarah Harding has published a biography Niguma and the core role her teachings have played in the development of the Shangpa Kagyu lineage.[1]
