Princess Bhrikuti

Princess Bhrikuti (Skt. Bhṛkutī; Tib. ལྷ་ཅིག་ཁྲི་བཙུན་, lha cig khri btsun) was a princess from the Licchavi kingdom of Nepal, who married King Songtsen Gampo of Tibet. She was one of two wives of Songtsen Gampo, the other being Princess Wencheng from China. Traditional Tibetan histories consider both princesses as physical manifestations of the bodhisattva Tara, and Songtsen Gampo as a physical manifestation of Avalokitesvara.

Princess Bhrikuti arrived in Tibet for her marraige in either 632 or 634, bringing with her the statue Jowo Mikyö Dorje, a statue of Maitreya, and the texts Tog, Gra lnga , and the Sutra of the White Lotus.

She played an important role in the construction of the Jokhang temple in Lhasa.
