Shudra (Skt. śūdra; T. dmangs rigs དམངས་རིགས) is one of the four castes or social classes (varna) of traditional Indian society. The other three castes being priest (brahmin), warriors/rulers (kṣatriya), and merchants (vaishya).

Traditionally, the shudra were the class of servants and menial laborers. This was the lowest of the four varnas.

The Buddha and the early Buddhist sanghas accepted followers from all social classes.
