Tarka

tarka (T. rtog ge). Hypothetical reasoning; argumentation; logic; perverted logic; reasoning, etc.[1]

Tarka is one of the sixteen categories of the Nyaya school. In this context, it refers to the "hypothetical reasoning" employed to draw out the implications of the proponent’s thesis (as established by a syllogism).[2]
