The English word Wisdom is used to translate two different Sanskrit terms:
- prajñā (Tib. ཤེས་རབ་, shes rab) - is a mental factor that has the function of correctly discerning or analyzing things and events. It is also the sixth of the six paramitas within the Sanskrit tradition.
- jñāna (Tib. ཡེ་ཤེས་, Wyl. ye shes) - is the primordial or non-dual aspect of wisdom (in the Sanskrit tradition)
