Dear Joseph, to get a wise answer I invite you to follow what Joseph Smith did to find his answer from God directly. I know God is our Father from Heaven and He will guide you as Joseph Smith has been guided. Heavenly Father knows everything, He is the Creator, He allowed the history of the world to be wrote and said by His prophets who lived in bible time and in BOM time. As Lehi, who is a descendant of Abraham and Jacob, testified to his sons:
“And if ye shall say there is no law, ye shall also say there is no sin. If ye shall say there is no sin, ye shall also say there is no righteousness. And if there be no righteousness there be no happiness. And if there be no righteousness nor happiness there be no punishment nor misery. And if these things are not there is no God. And if there is no God we are not, neither the earth; for there could have been no creation of things, neither to act nor to be acted upon; wherefore, all things must have vanished away” (2 Nephi 2:13). So, wear the armour of God with your own faith and if you shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, He [God] will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. I know that Book Of Mormon is a gift for heaven who teach me the truth of Gospel. Indeed it is another testament of Jesus Christ and together with the holy bible it testify about the atonement of Jesus Christ, His ministry, the plan of Salvation and also shows me who I am, where I am coming from, why I am here on earth and where I will go after this mortal life. It is comforting me within my daily afflictions and shows me through the Holy Ghost what to do and follow in order to have joy in this life and for eternity according with the God’s will. I invite you to read its words that are God’s words through His disciples, then ponder in your heart&mind its messages, and I promise you that you will be guided by God to receive joy and His blessings even in your affliction time. That’s true, but when we accept Moroni’s invitation and his counsel, the Holy Ghost will shows us the really truth in order to not be deceived by “men” (Moroni 7).

It is your choice to ask God to know for yourself, if The Book Of Mormon is true, or not.
I know this means your Salvation or not! I did ask and I do know for myself, that the teachings you will read and study in this book, prayerfully, you will know as I know the truth! It will save Everyone who is seeking to Love God and to keep the comandments, to live with Him for ever in the life after to come. And I know this book teaches how to save yourself and family too. So you call yourself a christian and you are basically asking for scientific proof to show if the book of Mormon is real, then tell me what about the holy bible, it can also be a book written by scholars, spiritual things cant be explain or seen with you bare eyes, you are asking for proof at least the book it self has explained it self, its just you are too blind to see, cos you are simply looking for physical answer, then answer this do you believe God truly exist cos nobody have seen God but we believe he exist, no science or great philosophers knows the work of God, you better be humble and sometimes it better to close your mouth and read and listen more it will help you, looking for proof as if the book has change to law of physics!

and you actually believe it was the book of Mormon making you have nightmares, and you prayed about it and got ghostly dreams,
those dreams and nightmares of yours are your sins how can you read a holy book when your heart is not just?
you pray for forgiveness while you have grudges against others, and now you come online and bear false witness, I guess you’ve read the wrong book, go and look again, you are to read and study with a book with your heart because you are not reading it to just understand it, but you are reading it to find answers.

and where is that written, i see they are many anti christ here, am sure you have never read the book in your life, the book teaches about the creation, and have you felt what is really mission in the holy bible, you don’t need to be a scholar or a philosopher to read and understand, this book you are to study it and read it with your heart, pray that the things you are reading is true, don’t come here and form different beliefs that runs in your head and just quote it down here to deceive yourself and the people, it is a book and if you look at it stories it real and speaking of it as a devils book because of its name, Mormon not marmon okay, just go and do your studies and stop bearing false witnesses.

I faced this same question 46 years ago before I joined the LDS church. I believe the Bible to be the Word of God, at all times including 1769. My conclusion was that prehaps the “Errors in translation” were the correction by inspiration of God for the early translators of the Bible ultimately required His inspiration as did the original authors.

You hit the nail on it’s head. No sane believer in Jesus Christ could believe the garbage in the Book of Mormon!
