I suggest that it was a historical preservation of many subjects worked into the guise of a faux illuminated manuscript. Given the understanding of the Catholic view of science during the medieval and early renaissance it makes some sense. Given now how meticulous the diagrams of the biological drawings of the masters of that era, what if some had indeed been in contact with those who had begun to explore the world of the miniscule as lenses began to develop across Europe. This I infer as I see some resemblance to cellular structures throughout the images, as well as the resemblance of some of the water scenes to chemistry lab setups of the time. Another plausible, yet highly unlikely idea, is that it could be a spy’s artistic journal. I have read of some artists being used as spies for recording geographic data, manufacturing processes, and of course, reproducing an actual map in disguised version in their artwork. This act could be carried out over many missions resulting in the collection we have, as well as providing the operative with an ever self-validating cover story.

Your few technical details are so weird and wrong and blatantly false and you are reciting them with such authority that I’m sort of at a loss as to how to proceed picking them apart.

So, this very elaborate, very detailed, collection of text and drawings which is divided into specific sections of botany, astrological ring type designs, women bathing in pools connected by elaborate machines/tubes and finally what appears to be recipe like lists is….Leonardo Da Vinci’s birth records for an April that he decided to write in an entirely unknown script for no apparent reason? Oh and something maybe to do with alchemy. And we know this because he “was able to write in humanist miniscule script”, which was unpopular, and something that looks like a reference to April in one of the astrology rings?
