So why do we have to go through all these egotistical life experiences? Why can't we just not experience them?
It appears that Life has created the ego condition as an inbuilt teaching device that ensures that we eventually begin to learn the essential wisdoms of Enlightenment. The ego is the source of all pain of separation which eventually leads us to seek out the wisdom of enlightenment.
It works like this. The more unruly, undisciplined and inflated the ego becomes then the more miserable, unhappy, ignorant and sick we become. If we don't do anything about this egoism then our life will become one long agony and suffering.
The first noble truth of Buddha's teachings pronounces that: "All egocentric living is suffering." It is from experiencing and understanding suffering that all great human spiritual qualities are born. Qualities such as love, compassion, selflessness, commitment, care, loving kindness, service, the desire for reformation of character, humanistic and spiritual knowledge, wisdom, and enlightenment. To name but few.
Why? Because selfishness in any part of our life - in any or many of our chakras - will eventually produce suffering and pain. Love and ego are opposites. We cannot be loving and spiritually living if we have any selfish blockages in our total mind - the seven chakras.
When we eventually become ill in any area of our life, then at this point we usually seek some outside help. So the ego does it's job! We are eventually forced to find out the root of our suffering. In finding out about it we become enlightened. So the ego's job is an inbuilt mechanism in humanity that forces us to seek enlightenment.
It appears that the Universal Life Force really wants us to get enlightened. It appears that we have no choice in the matter!
So, we might as well start today.
