Whatever the state of our relationship with our parents - living or not - will deeply effect the way in which we perceive the world and our relationship with it. Whatever our relationship was like with our Mother will colour our perception of women in general. The same goes for our relationship with our Father, it will deeply effect the way we relate to men.

So our perception and experiences of the World are directly effected by our relationships with our parents and the type of dynamic that they involved. Unresolved negative feelings of anger, resentment, and hatred toward any parent will eventually find outlet in some drama in our lives. These very festering emotions will actually subtley create all the dramas that they need for their expression.

For example, I harboured a great deal of anger and resentment towards my own Father because of my relationship with him when I was a child. For a long time after leaving the family home, I could not trust or believe in any authorative - powerful - male figure. I was projecting my relationship with my own Father onto the rest of the world. I could find no good in the male world - period. This was due to all the unresolved inner conflicts with my Father and effected my view of reality - totally. Not just mentally, but deeply emotionally. And the same kind of thing happened with my relationships with women. All my unresolved issues that I had with my Mother always surfaced disguised as some other negative manifestation - aimed at any woman in my life.

So, it becomes very obvious that our relationship with the world - inner and outer - is dominated by our relationship with our Parents, and until we decide to heal our relationship with our Family, then we will be stuck within the walls of our own blinkered perceptions of life.
