Maya - Illusion.

What is the illusion?

The illusion is the deluded thinking that leads one to believe that the relative manifestation is the only reality. Whereas - in Yoga - the Absolute quality of existence is perceived as the only true and lasting reality that is why it is named Absolute - eternal, blissful, infinite happiness beyond the limiting description of words, and The Mind (of the Absolute, Brahman, God), the manifestation, is that which is always changing in names, forms, time and space.

The sanskrit word Maya actually means "to measure" and measurement is the faculty of Mind - mind in this instance referring to the Macrocosmic Mind of God - the Total Mind of Existence - all duality and variety.

So, Maya could be seen to mean the deluded state that mistakes Mind (relative manifestation of duality and diversity) as the totality of reality, whereas - in Yoga - Mind is seen as the emanation of the Absolute - Brahman, God. Mind is merely a plaything of God, yet as players on the stage of the relative manifestation, we often mistake it for the only reality - forgetting that it just a play in the mind of God.

Thus, from this Maya - our deluded thinking and perception of reality - arises all suffering. We overcome this Maya by realising "Neti, Neti" - not this (referring to the play, the manifestation) - but "That" - referring to the Source of All Creation - the True identity of the consciousness that we all are part of - the Absolute.

May All Beings Realise Their Own True Identity as the Immortal Ever Blissful Self - God - that lies back behind the appearance of the World, Duality and The Relative Manifestation.

May the Light of Truth overcome all Ignorance.
