LIVING LIGHTLY


"If you are hard on life, then life will be hard on you.

So too, if you are light on life, then life will be light with you."


Wise people inform us to 'live lightly'. The more pressure and stress we put upon ourselves, others, and the environment, the harder we become and the harder life gets. Newton's Law of Resistance states clearly that, "For every force there is an equal yet opposite force."

Likewise, "As within, so without."

Problems occur when we have been brought up to be a hard person by people who condition us to believe in "dog-eat-dog", "Life is hard and then you die" - these Wolfen people who produce wolf children. All these psychological conditioned reactions to life can cause huge amounts of unnecessarily problems and illness for ourselves and for others. (This is dealt with in the conditioned personality.)

Try to avoid hard, negative people and people with dark personalities. Avoid the infantile, the foolish, and those suffering from hatred, bitterness, jealousy, denial and nihilism. Avoid the heartless if you can. Try to avoid heavy and negative people for there is little light and happiness about them. They are dangerous to themselves and others - "as within, so without."

Try to avoid TAMASIC (depressed and dull) and RAJASIC (excited and manic) people for they are on the rollercoaster of manic-depression and require professional assistance to get them balanced. Are you a professional? If not then simply avoid them or reduce the intensity or your relationship with them, for they have the overall tendency to drag you into their uncontrolled and chaotic energies and dramas.

Humility is a great tool that we need to use. We conquer pride, arrogance, egoism, lust and covetous by applying humility. When we forget our humility we can fall into these poisonous states of mind. Humility and harmlessness together are great strengths in our lives if we want to overcome the darkness.

Adhering to a vow of harmlessness - for which we need humility - makes sure that we avoid projecting our pain onto others. It means that we have to take responsibility for our pains, hurts, and discomforts. It helps us to investigate these pains and by investigating them we can understand them and then be rid of them. If we continue to try to avoid them or project them onto others, then we are never free of them - they haunt us until we sort them out, or they sort us out!

One way of bringing light into our lives, is to go through each of our chakras and investigate our attitudes and opinions towards them. This will tell us a great deal about the manner of our conditioning, and then we can simply work upon each chakra to re-program them with lighter and lovelier attitudes. Attitudes that are good for us, for others and for the world.

So learn goodness, learn lightness and everyone will benefit. Who is the happiest person? The one who is capable of bringing happiness to others, of bringing love and light. Be appropriate and move towards the light - with love.

Start with nurturing lightness and balance in the small things in your life, then in time, this loving and wise attitude will flow into all areas of your life. But we need to start somewhere and it is easier to start with the small. Get the basics right, get the roots right, then the tree will grow with beauty and with grace. The grace of life will only flow through those who love, live a good life, and are humble and wise. Then there can be light. Then life will flow. Be a small stream, then one day you will be an ocean. But there is no possibility of an ocean if at first we do not cultivate our stream. Also, be not concerned about the ocean, make no claims for it's appearance, simply cultivate your small stream, then the ocean will come to you. Even then, do not be concerned about it.

Learn to live a SATTVIC LIFE. This will naturally nurture the qualities of goodness, respect, love, appreciation, clarity, understanding, humility, balance, and light. Learn AYURVEDA and understand your doshas. This will greatly aid balance and attainment of sattvic qualities. Avoid the extremes of TAMAS (depressed inertia and dullness) and RAJAS (overly excited and manic). Take up a regular practice of HATHA YOGA and MEDITATION and you will gain a firm and steady grounding towards sanity, peace, and goodness.

Be light and balanced in each chakra. Be loving, honourable, respectful, and kind to each chakra and then you will allow the Divine to express itself in each chakra. Allow balanced nurturance and expression of each chakra. Don't overdo, don't bite off more than you can chew, live in a way that allows balanced expression of each chakra. Mind to your own business and allow others theirs. Do unto others that which you would like done unto you. Don't judge others, simply attend towards your own sattvic and balanced life. Judge not others - make informed opinion of their character for your own peace of mind and your own healthy living - instead set your powers of judgment the task of investigating our own character and in this way uproot your own ignorance that bring you nothing but unhappiness.
