adhvan (Skt.) is a Sanskrit term that has multiple meanings or connotations.

In Buddhist texts, the term commonly has the meaning of "time," and is synonomous with kāla.[1]

Wisdomlib.org states:

Adhvan (अध्वन्) or Tryadhvan refers to the “three times” as defined in the Dharma-saṃgraha (section 86):
atīta-adhvan (past time),
anāgata-adhvan (future time),
pratyutpanna-adhvan (present time).[2]

Tibetan texts translate adhvan as དུས་, which is the same word used to translate kāla. An alternate Sanskrit name of the "three times" is trikāla.

According to Sanskrit dictionaries, in other Indian traditions the term adhvan literally means a "path" or a "way," and time (Skt. kāla), is one of its connotations.[2]
