Apocrypha are works, usually written, of unknown authorship or of doubtful origin.[1]
This term was orginally used in relation to Christian texts. In Buddhism, the term is used generally to refer to works of unknown or uncertain origin.
The Paracanonical texts of the Pali tradition are sometimes referred to as apocrypha.
