avadya (T. kha na ma tho ba). Misdeeds. All wrong doings, non-virtues and negative activities prone to produce pain and suffering as their consequences.[1]

The Berzin Glossary states:

An action that ripens into the experience of suffering by the person who commits it or into a hindrance to his or her spiritual practice. An action that cannot be spoken about with praise.[1]

It's opposite is anavadya ("absence of fault").[2]
