Avalokitavrata (T. Spyan ras gzigs brtul zhugs) was an Indian scholar of the eighth century CE whose views aligned with Bhāvaviveka.
Avalokitavrata wrote the Prajñapradīpaṭīkā, an extensive subcommentary to Bhāvaviveka's Prajñāpradīpa, in which he defends Bhāvaviveka from Candrakīrti's critiques. That subcommentary is extant only in Tibetan translation.[1]
In Tibet, he was identified as a proponent of the Svatantrika-Madhyamika school.[1]
