dngos po (T. dngos po དངོས་པོ་) is translated as "entity," "real thing," "functional thing," "thing," etc.
In the pramana tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, dngos po is defined as "that which is able to perform a function."[1]
Functional things can be divided into three categories:[1][2]
- matter (rupa)
- consciousness (vijnana)
- non-concurrent formations
In the pramana tradition, this term is contrasted with dngos med ("non-thing"), "that which lacks the ablity to perform a function."
Equivalent Sanskrit terms can be bhava or vastu.[1][3]
