kṣaṇa (P. khaṇa; T. skad cig; C. chana 刹那) is translated as "instant," "moment," etc. It refers to the shortest possible span of time.[1] The precise length of time can vary depending on the how the term is used.
The Princeton Dictionary states:
- The term figures prominently in mainstream Buddhist discussions of impermanence and epistemology (see kṣaṇikavāda). Physical objects and mental events that persist over time are posited in fact to be merely a collection of these moments.[1]
