Lha Lama Yeshe O

Lha Lama Yeshe O (lha bla ma ye shes 'od ལྷ་བླ་མ་ཡེ་ཤེས་འོད།)་(947-1024), a.k.a. Yeshe O (T. ye shes 'od), was a king in the Western Tibetan region of Gugé who is credited with a revival of Buddhism in Tibet in the 11th century. He sponsored new translations of Indian texts into the Tibetan language and he and his nephew Jangchub O invited the Indian pandita Atisa to Tibet. His activities are said to be the start of the "later desemination" (phyi dar) of Buddhism to Tibet.
