Mahinda (S. Mahendra; T. Dbang chen དབང་ཆེན་; C. Moshentuo; J. Mashinda; K. Masinda 摩哂陀) is the Pāli name of the son of the Indian Emperor Ashoka who is credited with converting the Sinhalese king Devānaṃpiyatissa to Buddhism in the third century BCE, thus introducing Buddhism to Sri Lanka.[1]
