Matthew T. Kapstein is the Numata Visiting Professor of Buddhist Studies at the University of Chicago Divinity School, and Director of Tibetan Studies at the École pratique des hautes études.
Kapstein's fields of study are Indian philosophy and the Buddhist traditions of Tibet. His current list of publications includes references to work in both of these areas. In addition, he is co-editor of the quarterly journal History of Religions, and of the online Oxford Bibliographies of Buddhism.
