Saṃghavarman

Saṃghavarman (C. Sengqiebamo 僧伽跋摩) (fl. c. fifth century). An Indian monk who presided over the first ordination of nuns (bhiksuni) in China.[1] In 433, At this time, over three hundred other nuns were ordained, including Sengguo, thereby officially instituting the monastic order for women in China.[1]
Saṃghavarman also translated the Saṃyuktābhidharmahṛdaya into Chinese.[1]
