A second birth. A process of being reborn into the Universal Love/Wisdom which is the very heart and intelligent power of God and The Creation. In the east this is called "sannyas" meaning "twice born". In the west it is called redemption and resurrection - "born again."

It simply means to liberate oneself completely from the confines, miseries, and neurotic limitations of previous states of mind, many of which are an integral part of our conditioning process.

Many, many people find it immensely useful to use the process of "sannyas" as a clear indication that they are upon the path of conscious self mastery, mindful and spiritual living. This is the correct function of sannyas - it's just another technique to help us master our total mind.

We find ignorance and abuse of the technique of sannyas when egotistical personalities get attached to the "holy ladder." Sometimes people think they are special because they have taken sannyas! This is just another form of egoism which is the very dis-ease that these techniques are here to eliminate!

That is why we need to choose our spiritual guides carefully and be sure that we understand and trust the self-development process that we are using.
