jianxing (J. kenshō; K. kyŏnsŏng 見性) is a Chinese term that translates literally as “see one’s nature.”[1] It is an expression used in the Chan school to refer to the recognition of one’s innate buddha-nature (C. foxing).[1] In some Chan systems, this recognition constitutes enlightenment (bodhi).[1]
In the West, this concept is more commonly known by its Japanese name kenshō.
