Vajrāsana

vajrāsana (T. rdo rje gdan རྡོ་རྗེ་གདན་; C. jingang zuo 金剛座) is translated as "vajra seat," "diamond seat," "vajra throne," etc. This term has three denotations:[1]

  1. the seat under the bodhi tree where Gautama Buddha attained enlightenment; synonym for the bodhimanda
  2. synonym for the "vajra posture"
  3. the general place where the Buddha attained enlightenment, i.e. Bodhgaya
