
The Complete Works of Sister Nivedita. Sister Nivedita was a devotee of Swami Vivekananda. She had Scots-Irish origins and came til India as a social worker in 1898 where she met Swami Vivekananda who gave her the name Nivedita (meaning “Dedicated to God”). She became close with Vivekananda and also with Sarada Devi, the spiritual consort of the mystic Ramakrishna and one of the major influences behind Ramakrishna Mission and also with other brother disciples of Swami Vivekananda. She died on 13 October 1911 in Darjeeling. During her stay in India, she wrote 12 books on different topics from dharma and education to politics, but all of them referring to Hinduism and mysticism. All her books and other writings are here collected in the five-volume collected works.

Who was Sister Nivedita?
- Sister Nivedita was a Irish-British social worker, teacher, and author who was actively involved in the Indian independence movement.
- She was born as Margaret Elizabeth Noble in 1867 in Ireland.
- Sister Nivedita was a close associate and disciple of Swami Vivekananda, one of the foremost spiritual leaders of India.
- She came to India in 1898 at the invitation of Swami Vivekananda and dedicated her life to the service of the people of India, particularly women and children.
- Sister Nivedita was a pioneer in the field of education and worked to establish schools and colleges for girls in India.
- She was also actively involved in the fight against social evils such as child marriage and the caste system, and worked towards the upliftment of the poor and marginalized sections of society.
- Sister Nivedita was a strong advocate for women’s rights and played a key role in the formation of the Women’s India Association, an organization that worked for the empowerment of women in India.
- She was also a prolific writer and author, and wrote numerous books and articles on a variety of subjects, including education, religion, and social reform.
- Sister Nivedita died in 1911 at the young age of 44, but her contributions to India and its people have continued to be recognized and remembered.
- She was awarded the Kaisar-i-Hind Medal, a prestigious award given by the British government in India, for her social work and contributions to the country.
