Ghrāṇavijñāna (P. ghānaviññāṇa; T. sna'i rnam par shes pa སྣའི་རྣམ་པར་ཤེས་པ་; C. bishi 鼻識) is translated as "nose conscousness," "olfactory consciousessnees," etc.
The nose consciousness arises through contact (sparsa) between smells and the nose faculty.
The nose consciousness perceives/congnizes smells.
The nose consciousness (ghrāṇavijñāna) is identified as:
- one of the five types of consciousness that percieves the five sense objects
- one of the six types of consciousness
- one of the eighteen dhatus
